Finding Mayflower ancestors has become easier over the past several years with the introduction of online resources available at home and direct resources available at local libraries. Currently, the General Society of Mayflower Descendants (GSMD) recognizes 54 Mayflower passengers who had descendants. Do you have an ancestor who was one of those passengers? Join IRGS as Kurt introduces the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and its local affiliates, shares ways to find Mayflower ancestors and offers strategies for verifying your lineage.
Kurt is an award-winning retired city manager, serving three Illinois communities and one in Florida in that capacity for over 35 years. He became a member of the Mayflower Society in 2015, descending from Stephen Hopkins and George Soule. He is affiliated with the Stephen Hopkins Colony in Vero Beach. In 2017 Kurt was appointed as a Florida Co-Historian; since then he has completed over 500 approved Mayflower membership applications. He does so as a volunteer, willing to share his time and skills to help prove their direct Mayflower connections.
We encourage you to join us at the IRC Main Library in Vero Beach with Social time beginning at 1:00 pm and the meeting at 1:30 pm. If you cannot attend in person, you can REGISTER in advance to join us via Zoom using the following link:
