Volunteers and staff at the Archive Center and Genealogy Department of the Indian River County Main Library have compiled an index of obituaries and death notices published in local newspapers from 1913 through the present. The database includes more than 118,500 names. Nearly all of the obituaries are located on microfilm copies of the newspapers. Click on "Search the Obituary Index" below to access the database.
To Request a Look up:
You may request a look up of copies of obituaries listed in the index by email or regular mail. Please do not call the Archive Center and Genealogy Department to request lookups. Please limit your request to no more than four copies. If you have a need for five or more copies, please email the Archive Center and Genealogy Department with details. They will respond with an estimate of the costs to fulfill your request by regular mail. The charge for photocopies by regular mail is $5.00 for 5-10 obituaries.

Notes on the Obituary Index
The Indian River Obituary Index has been compiled over several years and before this web-based searchable database became available. We have adapted our data to work within the constraints of this database. You will find the microfilm roll number listed as "Roll" under "Other information." If an individual had information published on multiple days, there will be a separate entry for each day.
